Copic Marker Vintage Pack Ad Campaign
Capturing the essence of vintage Japanese woodblock prints for a mock Copic marker campaign

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Graphic design

GOALS:
Design an advertising campaign for an existing product. This project was part of the UC Berkeley Extension Photoshop course.

TIMELINE:
Two weeks; Sept 2020

TOOLS:
Photoshop

DESIGN PROCESS:
In most of my traditional paintings, I use Copic markers as a medium. Many times, I have used Japanese woodblock paintings as color references for my paintings. Little did I know, Copic had a Vintage color pack line. Therefore, when tasked with designing an advertising campaign for a product of my choosing, I chose to market this product.

Copic is a Japanese marker brand. Well known globally, I chose to center the advertisement campaigns around the 36 views of Mt. Fuji paintings. This also enabled me a wide selection of paintings to choose from to diversify layouts in a series of billboards.

FIRST ITERATIONS:

Using masks in Photoshop, I extracted images of markers and placed them around the composition. I added an adjustment layer to help blend the markers with the textured woodblock prints. I recognized an opportunity to add more hierarchy and call attention to a slogan to tie all the pieces together.

FINAL RESULT:
A series of 3 billboard / banner advertisements that can be utilized on public and online spaces.
